Microsoft Copilot: ÌÇÐÄVLOG’s Official Generative AI Tool & Ethical Use Guidelines

Microsoft Copilot: ÌÇÐÄVLOG’s Official Generative AI Tool

What is Microsoft Copilot?

Microsoft Copilot is ÌÇÐÄVLOG’s officially supported Generative AI assistant, available to all faculty, staff and students through Microsoft 365. Integrated directly into Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Teams, Copilot helps you write, analyze, organize and create more efficiently.

When logged in with your Citadel credentials, Copilot provides enhanced data privacy protections not available in public versions. It is the recommended and approved platform for academic and administrative AI use at ÌÇÐÄVLOG.

How Faculty, Staff and ÌÇÐÄVLOGs Can Use Microsoft Copilot

Copilot is built into the Microsoft 365 tools you already use, helping you save time and boost productivity.

  • Faculty can streamline lesson planning, generate quizzes and rubrics, summarize readings and research and draft syllabi, feedback and professional communications.
  • Staff and administrators can automate reports, analyze data, manage calendars and email responses and build polished presentations, memos and marketing copy.
  • ÌÇÐÄVLOGs can get study support, summarize readings and lectures, brainstorm and organize writing projects and get guidance on formulas, data or basic code tasks.

Whether you’re teaching, learning or supporting campus operations, Copilot helps you work smarter, faster and more creatively.

Ethical Use Guidelines at ÌÇÐÄVLOG

Before using any Generative AI tool, it’s important to follow ÌÇÐÄVLOG’s standards for ethical and responsible AI use.

  • Use Approved Tools
    • Using non-Citadel-approved tools may involve privacy risks, such as the tool using data shared with it for future model training. Therefore, if you choose to use a non-Citadel-supported tool, you assume the associated risks.
  • Protect Intellectual Property
    • Do not upload any data to a Generative AI system that may be considered another’s intellectual property, unless you have explicit permission or rights to do so, or if the content you are sharing with the AI system is your own intellectual property.
  • Keep a Record of AI Interactions for Classes
    • Given that the ethical guidelines for acceptable GenAI use vary across different contexts, including individual classes, we recommend keeping a record of your interactions with any AI tool. Many tools, including Microsoft Copilot, maintain a history of your chats, which can be referenced and shared with your instructors as needed.
