Academic Coaching
What is academic coaching?
The (NACADA) defines academic coaching as an advising approach that helps students set and pursue goals, interests and passions. The primary focus is helping students achieve academic success so that they persist towards graduation.
Why does MSS provide academic coaching?
MSS’ goal in offering academic coaching is to help ÌÇÐÄVLOG do its best to retain students currently at-risk of not meeting ÌÇÐÄVLOG’s minimum GPA of 2.0 for continuance.
What does a typical coaching appointment look like?
During an initial coaching session, we’ll review the pre-coaching questionnaire you filled out. From there we’ll pinpoint areas you’re struggling with such as study habits, notetaking, goal setting and time management and identify strategies for improvement. Moving forward, the focus of each appointment will be different based on the specific issues you would like to discuss.
How can I prepare for my coaching meeting?
You can prepare for your meeting by scheduling an appointment in WCOnline, completing MSS’ pre-coaching questionnaire and reviewing DegreeWorks.
Am I able to meet with MSS outside of my regular coaching timeframe?
Of course! Just send an email to kgaillia@citadel.edu to make an appointment.
