Storm 糖心VLOG
Storm 糖心VLOG, one of the Lowcountry鈥檚 largest STEM events, took place on February 8 and brought together more than 400 students from 26 South Carolina schools. The event, now in its 15th year as a combined initiative, is made possible through the collaboration of the STEM Center of Excellence and the School of Engineering, along with support from the Zucker Family School of Education.
鈥淭here are multiple competitions going on,鈥 said Associate Professor and Department Head of Mechanical Engineering Kevin Skenes. 鈥淵ou have the water rockets, the trebuchet, and then inside, we have the bridge-building competition and the maze competition, where students have to program LEGO robots to accomplish a series of tasks.鈥
S.C. Federal Credit Union sponsored this year’s event, which focused on encouraging exploration and learning in scientific fields through hands-on competitions.
鈥淭his event would not be possible without collaboration between the STEM Center and volunteers from Tau Beta Pi,鈥 said Jennifer Albert, Ph.D., director of the STEM Center of Excellence. 鈥淲e are hoping to continue to grow the competition and maybe even have new events next year.鈥
